Veganism is healthy and the most cruelty-free lifestyle around . When a person goes vegan, they must end the consumption of items that an animal was either killed or tortured for.
A few examples of what vegans don’t eat is meat (including fish), eggs (& anything that contains eggs), milk & milk products, gelatine (found in most jelly and some candies) & honey. True vegans (and vegans for the purpose of animal welfare) will not wear fur, woollens, leather or use products that were tested on animals or contain ingredients derived from animals. This does not mean vegans are deprieved of anything, there are many substitutes such as vegan milk, vegan meat, vegan cheese and much more! (we have a detailed list here)
Veganism is often mistaken with vegetarianism, though they are similar- they are not the same. Vegetarians drink milk (& milk products) and eat eggs, they just eliminate meat...which makes veganism way more cruelty-free.
People usually go vegan because of the atrocious treatment of animals killed and/or tortured for meat, eggs, dairy, animal testing, fur, leather, wool and other stuff. Many people also go vegan due to problems with their weight, for their health, purification, or even because of allergies.
A vegan diet is a plant based diet, but it isn’t bad as there are many plant based substitutes nowadays…and it doesn’t mean giving up the foods most people love.
